I.D Cards, Individual Membership and Policy Updates

Last year, the use of I.D cards was introduced for weigh-in at National competitions. This year, every card holder will be entered into a draw to win a range of prizes on offer. These cards will also now be used at competition entrances to gain entry for €5 instead of the typical €10 charged by most shows. These cards are only valid for 1 year, so they need to be renewed for 2018, if you haven’t already done so. New cards will be valid for the new affiliation year, which runs until March 31st 2019.

As passed at this year’s AGM, it is now a requirement of the Association, under article 7.3 of the constitution, for all members to affiliate as individual members of the association and to pay the annual €50 subscription. This applies to everyone, whether they are officials, or individual club members. Once each member completes the individual membership application process, they will be issued with a new I.D card.

In order to make this process as straight forward as possible, the individual membership application process will be done online here

There is also a link in the main website menu. The payment of €50 will be taken online using a credit or debit card. Payment will be handled securely using Stripe Payment Services. Stripe is one of the worlds most trusted and fastest growing processors of online payments and the company’s products are live in 25 different countries. Last year, 40% of people across the UK and Ireland have bought something online using Stripe.

Pulling in the Sunshine!

Mulcair 480Kg 1st place winnersYesterday we held our first outing of our new Performance & Participation program where Mulcair hosted the days event of the 480kg and 540kg competitions.

We were very lucky with the weather, with the sun shining all day.  It was a fantastic day, with a great turnout where 9 teams competed in the 480kg and 7 in the 540kg.

All pullers performing brilliantly, they displayed determination, perseverance and a great amount of effort in all pulls.

The comradery was great to see with some teams taking ladies and youths under their wing for the day.  We even had an impromptu kid’s teams pulling who thought it was tremendous. Continue reading

Gold and 2 Bronze for Ireland at World Indoors

A hugely successful Indoor World Championships saw Irish teams return home with a large medal haul, after being involved in the knockout stage of every single Senior men’s event across the week.

In the closed competitions, Ireland won 560kg Gold and took Bronze in the 640kg and 680kg events. Ireland finished 4th in the remaining closed competition, the 600kg.

In the open events, St. Pats went one better than they managed at the 2016 World Championships in Volendam, Netherlands. This time the club won all 4 of the senior men’s weights. Mountain View also won Bronze in the open 560kg competition to round out a very strong showing by all Irish participants in the Championships.

Congratulations to all the Mountain View and St. Pats members, along with the pullers from Clonmany and Carndonagh, who travelled to Xuzhou, China to take part and are now returning home as either first time medalists or multiple World Champions. Continue reading

Gold, 2 Silver and a Bronze for Ireland at the B&I’s

Day 1 of the Indoor British & Irish Championship was held today in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh where the closed competitions took place. There was great success for Ireland in both men’s weights.

The final of the 600kg was an all Ireland affair, with Ireland B (represented by Mountain View) taking Gold by defeating Ireland A (represented by St. Pats).

Ireland B (represented by Carndonagh) also made the final of the 680kg event. They came away with silver, after losing out to Scotland. Ireland A (represented by Clonmany) defeated England to win the Bronze medal.

St. Pats won Gold in an open club 640 competition that was also held today. Mountain View took silver in this event.

Congratulations to all involved and best of luck in tomorrows open competitions.

St. Pats Complete 8-A-Side Clean Sweep

The final of the National Indoor Championship Series took place last Sunday in St. Mary’s Hall, Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford. St. Pats took Gold in the 560kg to complete another clean sweep of Indoor Championships. They were stopped short of going unbeaten in all competitions however, as Mountain View defeated Carndonagh in the 5-a-side final.

The 3rd competition of the day, the Open 640kg competition, was also won by St. Pats.

The 560kg round robin was topped by St. Pats, who went into the straight final Continue reading

St. Pats 1 Win Away From Clean Sweep

The 1st National Championship of 2018 was held on Sunday in the Youth Club in Buncrana, Co. Donegal. The weight on the day was the 600kg Championship and there is now only 1 more round of Indoor Nationals left before the British & Irish Championship in February. As the indoor season reaches its peak, the result on Sunday had a very similar look. Much like the rest of the season so far, no club has been able to close the gap on St, Pats. The club took the 600kg title and are now only 1 round away from a clean sweep of National Championships.

There were 3 competitions ran on the day, with an Open 680kg competition being ran as well as the 600kg Championship weight and the 5-a-side 375kg.

The round robin in the days main event ended Continue reading
