Recent judges course

Best wishes to Fr Brendan Ward of the Lakehill Tug of War club who was ordained a Priest for the diocese of Raphoe last Sunday. The association would like to wish him all the best for the future.

The passing of Patsy McDonald

Patsy McDonaldThe association would like to extend it’s deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Patsy McDonald, Belturbet, Co Cavan. Patsy had a great love of the sport and was a loyal servant to this club, Killylough and formally Redhills. He represented Ireland on many occasion on the World & European stage and won many an international medal during this pulling career which was cut short due to illness. We have all lost a good friend and gentleman. Patsy’s funeral mass will take place today (Monday 22nd June) in St Patrick’s Church, Drumalee at 12pm. Ag ndeanaigh Dia trocaire are a ainm.

Tug of War on Today FM

Well done to Martin Egan who spoke well on Today FM’s Anton Savage show about the possibility of the inclusion of Tug of War in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Judges Course

The judges course will take place at 10.00 am sharp at the Quality hotel in Clonakility, on the 7th June. Anyone interested should contact the secretary before the 22nd May as places are still available. Davy Wilson from the NITOWA will conduct the course.

Anyone interested in some PR work?

The association is looking for a person or ideally persons to fill the vacant PRO role. Responsibilities would include;

  • Emailing national championship results to newspapers such as the Irish Independent and Irish Examiner on a Sunday evening in time for Monday morning.
  • Working to win further publicity for the sport in the national and local media, newspapers, TV & radio.
  • Assisting the website administrator with keeping the website up-to-date.

Enthusiastic candidates with a love for the sport will have many more ideas on how to promote the sport.
