Results from day 2 Performance & Participation day

Yesterday seen the 2nd outing for the performance & participation day hosted by Loughmore Tug of war where the venue was excellent.

The following teams competed on the day Ballinastoe, Castlegregory, Loughmore, Killenaule, Mulcair and Gna C.

A very close competition with nothing between teams resulting in most pulls going to 3 ends.   The Youths and Ladies got a good days pulling too.

Winners in 480kg Castlegregory & Runners up Killenaule.

Winners in 540kg Ballinastoe & Runners up Castlegregory.

1st Round of National League

The National League Round 1 was held yesterday at the old Connolly Army Barracks,  Longford.

The weights on the day were 600k & 680kg where six teams competed in both.
The first competition of the day was the 600kg and both were pulled on the round robin system so in the end of the competition the points were awarded to –
Castlegregory -14. Mulcair -13. Mixed A – 9. Mighty Oaks – 6. Leo Boys – 3. GnC – 0.

And in the 680kg the same six teams also competed and the points here were awarded to
Castlegregory -15. Leo Boys -11. GnC – 7. Ballinagh – 6. Mulcair – 4. Mighty Oaks – 2.

The next round of this league round 2 will be held at Piltown, Co Killkenny on Sunday 27th May

Another Glorious day Pulling

Yesterday seen Connaught Tow hosting a tug of war event at the Mayo Ploughing Association.  The weights on the day was 500kg & 550kg.  The pulling took place in glorious sunshine and large crowds.

National League Round 1

Sunday 13th May will see the start of the National League being held in Longford.

There will be 2 weights on the day 600kg & 680Kg.  If all pullers please have their individual weight sheet completed prior to stepping on the scale, as this will speed up the process on the day.

Updated individual weight sheets and team sheets will be distributed in the coming days to each club Secretary for printing.

Connaught Board & Mayo Ploughing pull together

Update to Venue:

Connaught Board in Conjunction with Mayo Ploughing Association will host a Tug of war competition this Sunday 6th May.  This event has been taking place for the last 26 years.

Venue: Castlebar Road, Ballinrobe, Co Mayo (beside Racecourse)
6 a side Open Category
Weights 500kg & 550kg
Weigh In 11:30am – 12:30pm
First Pull to start @ 1pm.
