Important Notice for All Clubs

Following a unanimous decision by the National Executive Committee, the following rule is now in place from today, 16/07/2017:

“With immediate effect, no club member may affiliate to a new club, or move to an existing club, that is outside of the province that the club member is permanently resident in”

This change will have no affect on club members who are already affiliated to a club from outside of their province. They will be still able to continue on with their current club indefinitely.

 

Boley and Ballinagh End Gold Medal Drought With 680kg Wins in Ballinastoe

An Tochar GAA Grounds in Ballinastoe, Co. Wicklow was the venue at last Sunday’s 680kg Championship, as the local Ballinastoe club hosted Round 3 of the 2017 National Outdoor Series.

Indoor Sub-Committee Meeting

A meeting of the Indoor Sub-Committee will be held this Sunday, the 2nd of July, at 12.00pm in the Tullamore Court Hotel. All Clubs looking to take part in this years Indoor National competitions should send 1 representative to attend. Fixtures and other competition related issues will be discussed and decided. Anyone with any questions can call Martin Hogan on 087 7649017.

National Ladies and Youths training day

A National Ladies and Youths training day will be held this Sunday, the 2nd of July, at Gratton Og GAA Grounds, Stonepark, Co. Longford from 11am. Any youths who have not already been involved in the youth training days, but are interested in making the Panel for this years GENSB tournament, should attend this Sunday. This years GENSB will be held on August 26th in Retie, Belgium.

Glenhill Win 2nd Ever Senior Title and Huge Upset in the 700kg

At last year’s Cork Summer Show there was persistent rain throughout the day and G&B added yet another Senior title to their tally.
It was all change at Day 2 of the 2017 National Outdoor Series at this years Cork Summer Show, with clear blue skies and 26 degree temperatures. G&B, last year’s champions in both of the days weights, were missing and in their absence Glenhill took their second ever Senior title in the 560kg. The 700kg competition was turned on its head at the semi final stage and Mountain View went on to also win a 2nd ever Senior Title for their club.

After the first 4 National Championship events, we have 4 different winners in the Senior division. Last year it looked like G&B were set to take up the mantel from Boley and Lakehill and dominate the Senior Division for the foreseeable future. Instead we have the most open National Series in many years.
