Tug of War at the National Ploughing Championships!
On Thursday the 20th September tug of war made it to the ploughing!! An open 6-a-side catchweight competition was held there. The competition kicked off at 2pm. Castlegregory, Mighty Oaks, Killenaule, and a mixed club team competed. Thankfully, as the competition started the rain eased off so the spectators got to enjoy watching the pulling. The teams were very evenly matched which made for a great competition. At the end of the round robin, Killenaule were in the top spot. The pull for 3rd place was between the mixed team and Mighty Oaks, with the mixed team winning. The final was between Killenaule and Castlegregory. Killenaule claimed the first end with great power and determination, however Castlegregory fought back to claim the second end. This led to a great battle for the 3rd and final end, much to the delight of the spectators. Castlegregory claimed victory and took the top spot. We would like to thank all the members of the ITOWA that travelled to participate on the day taking time out from work to do so. It was greatly appreciated and a great day was had by all at The Ploughing!!!
