St. Pats Remain Unbeaten Heading into Christmas Break
St. Pats held the 3rd round of the National Indoor Championship Series on Sunday the 3rd. It was the last indoor fixture before the Christmas break and also the final national event of 2017. The venue in Tralee, the John Mitchels Sports Complex, was excellent and roundly praised. With Clonmany A away, it was a repeat of the 680kg final, as Pats defeated Mountain View to go into the Christmas break unbeaten.
St. Pats took the gold without dropping an end, as they topped the round robin. They were followed into the semi finals by Mountain View A in 2nd, Carndonagh in 3rd and Mountian View B in 4th. The semi’s saw straight end victories for both Pats and Mountain View A.
Carndonagh went in to the Bronze decider for the 3rd time in a row, while it was Mountain View B’s first medal pull, having taken part in every National this year so far. It was third time lucky for Carndonagh as they took the clubs first medals of the season with a straight end victory.
St. Pats won their 3rd gold of the season in the final with another straight end victory over Mountain View A.
In the the 5-a-side 400kg Competition, 5 teams took part and the semi final lineup saw St. Pats A take on Rockies, while St, Pats B were up against Carndonagh A
Both St. Pats teams progressed without dropping an end which left Carndonagh and Rockies to contest the Bronze medal pull. Carndonagh A took this to claim a second bronze of the day.
The all Pats final was won by St. Pats B in a reversal from the previous 425kg competition.
