2017 Outdoor British & Irish Championships

An Irish squad travelled to last weekend’s British & Irish Championship which was held in Paisley, Scotland. Pullers travelled from Ballinastoe and B&K as well as from Mountain View and Ballinagh.

Following on from success at the World Games, England were very dominant in the closed events. The Irish men’s team, represented by Ballinastoe, managed to make the semi finals of both competitions, but missed out on a final place. In the 680kg competition they were beaten by eventual champions England A in the semi final. But they came back to win the bronze medal, beating the home team, Scotland A. They lost out to Northern Ireland A in the 600kg bronze medal decider. The Irish women’s and mixed teams missed out on a semi final place. The results of the closed competitions were as follows:

Mens 600kg Closed

England A Gold
England B Silver
