St. Pats within touching distance of clean sweep of senior titles

The clubs who attended the penultimate national indoor championship which was hosted by Cuan Rithe near Mallow were Castlegregory, Clonmany, Cuan Rithe, Mountain View, St Pats & Stapletons.

Six clubs competed in the senior 600kg competition. The clubs who qualified for the semi finals were Clonmany, Cuan Rithe, Mountain View & St Pats. St Pats defected Clonmany in the first semi final in straight ends. In the other semi Cuan Rithe won the first end against Mountain View but the Louth based team responded well to take the next two ends to qualify for the final. St Pats have been very strong all season and once again Mountain View were no match for them in the final as Pats went on to win their fourth senior title of the season with a straight end victory.

Cuan Rithe produced a good performance in the bronze place pull-off defeating Clonmany in straight ends.  The Div 2 competition was changed to an open 640kg final. The two clubs who competed were Castlegregory & Stapeltons. They pulled the round robin with the senior teams in the 600kg and then went into their own final. In that final Castlegregory won the first end but Stapletons responded well to take the next two ends and the gold medal.

Six teams also competed in the 375kg 5-a-side competition. The teams who qualified for the simi finals were Clonmany, Cuan Rithe B and St Pats A & B. Both St. pats clubs progressed to face each other in the final with impressive straight end wins. St Pat A were victorious in the final. Cuan Rithe B won again defecated Clonmany to win the bronze medal.
