A large Irish contingent travelled to last weekend’s UK & Irish championship which was held in Llinandrindod, Wales. Pullers travelled from Ballinastoe, Castlegregory, Donoughmore, G&B, Grove, Kiltevna, Loughmore & Rockies.
The Irish Ladies competed in their first British and Irish Championships and what a performance it was from our woman. They entered both competitions very light and were very unlucky in the 520kg just missing out on qualification to the semi finals by 1 point. A lot of positives can be taken from this trip they showed a lot of character and competed well as a team. The youth squad competed well in their competition and were very unlucky losing out on a semifinal place. They had picked up more points than England B going into the last of the round robin but England B managed to beat England A by 2 straight ends to get the last spot ahead of Eire og. Ballinastoe men competed very well in the club events. They continued to show the good form they have enjoyed here this year and like the youths just missing out on a semi final spot. Ballinastoe’s mixed team finished third losing out in the semifinals to a very strong Ershire team. B&G picked up 3 silver medals over the weekend, the closed 680kg, open 680kg and 640kg classes. They met some great competition over the weekend beating teams from Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. However an on form and on weight Lincoln team took the gold in all the 3 weight classes. Congrats to all teams that competed as it was a great weekend.
