Vision Sports Ireland are the National Governing Body for sport for vision impaired people in Ireland. The event was officially opened by Michael D Higgins. It involved competitions and demonstrations across a range of sports suitable for vision impaired people like Tandem Cycling, Futsal, Tennis (using a sound emiting ball), 100m sprints and Tug of War. Cathy and the girls organised the Tug of War competition with all the participants on the rope having some visual impairment. Vision Sports Ireland member Patricia McCarthy was very happy with the event and very grateful to Cathy and the girls for their efforts, ” Everyone was delighted that you came along. I personally appreciate all the effort you went to in ensuring that everyone enjoyed their experience of tug of war.”
