St Pats dominate as indoors finish up

The clubs who attended the final indoor championship of the season which was held in Kingscourt were Ballinagh. Ballinastoe, Carndonagh, Cuan Rirth, Gort na Cloiche, Maharees, Mountain View, St Pats, Rathkeale & Rockies.

Five teams took part in the 560kg senior competition. St. Pats defeated Cuan Rithe in the first semi final while Mountain View defeated Carndonagh in the other semi. This set-up a great final between the top two teams in the country as Mountain View hoped to build on their victory in the 600kg in Clonmany. However, it was St. Pats who were the stronger team as they won revenge for the 600kg defeat with a comfortable straight end victory to win their fourth senior title of the season. Carndonagh defeated Cuan Rithe in straight ends to win the bronze medal. Five teams also competed in the 560kg Div 2 championship. Cuan Rithe defeated Rockies to qualify for the final and Mountain View overcame Maharees in the second semi final to join the Cork team in the final. Cuan Rithe produced another fine performance in the final to win the gold medal and add a second Div 2 title to the 680kg they won earlier in the season. Maharees defeated the hosts, Rockies, to win the bronze medal. Five teams also competed in the novice 560kg event. Mountain View defeated Ballinagh in the first semi final. Gort na Cloiche defeated Rathkeale in the other semi final to set-up a final with Mountain View. Mountain View were too strong for the Longford outfit in the final and went on to win the gold medal with a straight end victory.

St. Pats ladies squad who dominated the 2015 indoor season

The St. Pats ladies dominated both ladies leagues with their A team taking the gold medal in the 350kg and their B team taking the gold at 325kg. Ballinastoe had to settle for the silver the medal in both leagues. St. Pat’s B also won the gold medal in the mixed 4×4 600kg league. Rathkeale were dominant in the youth league winning both rounds with Gort na Cloiche runners-up. The finale of the combined ladies/youth league was poised to be an exciting contest as St. Pats & Rathkeale were tied on 13 points each going into Sunday. However, Rathkeale were unable to field a team resulting in the gold medal going to St. Pats by default.
