Maharees from Co. Kerry defeated their Cork rivals to win the bronze medal.
The medal winners for both the novice 600kg and 560kg competitions were the same and in the same order. Maharees from Co. Kerry defeated Rathkeale from Co. Limerick in both finals to win the gold medals in each. The Kerry club made the long journey home in fine form wrapping up the season with three novice tittles and also a gold in men’s novice 375kg 5-a-side league. GnaC Valley from Co. The third place pull-off in the senior 560kg was one of the few exciting contests of the day as Cuan Rithe came from an end down to defeat Maharees to win the bronze medal and revenge for their earlier defeat in the 600kg bronze match-up.
GnaC Valley and St. Pats contested the ladies catchweight competition. The St. Pats ladies in their first season out completed the clean sweep of ladies victories winning the gold medal in this event. Rathkeale A & B teams contested all three rounds of the youth league and they collected the gold and silver medals as the league reached it’s conclusion in Donegal. The men’s 425kg 5-a-side league also reached it’s conclusion as St. Pats took maximum points and Clonmany B finishing in second place. Clonmany B picked up 6 points to add to their 7 points from round 1 and they pipped St. Pats by 1 point to win the gold medal overall and gain a little consolation for the defeats to their rivals in the three national finals.
