Irish teams in medals at UK’s
The UK outdoor championships were hosted by the Northern Ireland association over the weekend in Enniskillen and there was a lot of success for the southern clubs who travelled to take part in the open club competitions on Saturday.
The ladies development squad lead by Liaison Officer, Tracy Smith, made their first trip to an International event where they entered three squad based teams in the competitions. The girls pulled very well against their UK opponents winning the silver medal in the 500kg championship. Four of the development squad teamed with four Lakehill pullers to win the gold medal in the mixed 600kg championship. Lakehill made the trip to Enniskillen on the back of last weekend’s disappointment at near full strength with Brendan Ward and the fit again Brendan McNulty returning to action. The Mayo team pulled very well on the day winning the gold medal in both the 640kg and 680kg championships. Fairywater also pulled very well in the 600kg championship winning the silver medal.
