Again Ballyhooley were put under serious pressure in the second end but resisted the attack of the Fermoy men and went on to take the 425kg title. Their fine performance at the recent national championships in Cooley had stood to the Ballyhooley men. The winning Ballyhooley team were A Collins, M Jones, S Reilly, L Lynch, J Ford and coach P Muldoon.
Four teams took part in the 5-a-side catchweight competition. Cappoquin produced some fine pulling finishing top of the league system with maximum points. They were closely followed by Fermoy in second place. Cappoquin produced an excellent display in the final to win the title in two straight ends avenging their defeat to the Fermoy men in the final of the Fermoy open competition which had taken place two weeks previous. The Cappoquin men were delighted with their Munster success, their first munster title since joining the association over one year ago.
