The destination of the novice league hung finely in the balance as Canavans from Tuam lead the way ahead of Taughmaconnell from Roscomman. There were a lot of even contests with many of them going to third ends. The Gills team also from the Tuam area produced some fine pulling to qualify for the final in first position where they were joined by Taughmaconnell. However, the Tuam team ran out of steam and it was the Roscomman men who took the 680kg title with a straight end victory earning them another 10 points. However, the Canavans team who have had a great first season managed to hold on to top position in the league and were presented with the Connaught novice cup by chairman Gerry Ferguson.
